White Plains, NY — On Monday, the Westchester County Board of Legislators celebrated their annual Black History Month observance by honoring two exemplary individuals -- Mamie Duncan-Gibbs of Yonkers and Deputy Police Commissioner Neil Reynolds of New Rochelle – in a virtual ceremony.

White Plains, NY – On Monday night, the Westchester County Board of Legislators voted unanimously to set a date to fill the vacancy for County Legislative District 12. The seat became vacant on January 1, 2023, following the resignation of MaryJane Shimsky, who successfully ran to represent District 92 in the New York State Assembly.

“While I, and most of my colleagues, are disappointed with the County Executive’s veto of the law banning flavored tobacco passed last week by the Board of Legislators, I am proud of the hard work of this body and public health advocates for pushing the conversation forward, and advancing the legislation further than before.
