(White Plains, NY) – Following the Westchester County Board of Legislators unanimous passage on Monday, March 6, County Executive George Latimer immediately signed into law a measure aimed at further reducing the amount of plastics in the County’s waste stream. The new measure was signed into law at a ceremony hosted outside of the Board of Legislators Chambers. Legislator Erika Pierce, along with chair of the Environment, Energy & Climate committee and Vice-chairwoman Nancy Barr were the main sponsors of this common sense bill.

White Plains, NY – On Monday night, the Westchester County Board of Legislators voted unanimously to set a date to fill the vacancy for County Legislative District 12. The seat became vacant on January 1, 2023, following the resignation of MaryJane Shimsky, who successfully ran to represent District 92 in the New York State Assembly.

Westchester County Executive George Latimer signed his 2023 Westchester County Budget, cutting the County Property Tax Levy by $6 million dollars, flanked by members of the Westchester County Departments of Emergency Services, Corrections, Probation and Public Safety. The Budget was passed by the County Board of Legislators earlier in the day, bipartisan 17-0.
