Westchester County, NY — During its fourteenth meeting of the year, the Westchester County Board of Legislators successfully passed a bond act to fund the acquisition of new paratransit vehicles-specialized transportation options designed for individuals with disabilities and those who need assistance getting to essential services. This initiative continues to increase the percentage of energy-efficient hybrid vehicles and maximizes County resident’ access while complying with Federal and State guidelines.

Legislator Erika Pierce (Bedford, Lewisboro, Mount Kisco, North Salem, Pound Ridge, Somers) said, "For employment, doctors' appointments, and daily needs, ParaTransit is a lifeline for Westchester residents. Paratransit serves 7500 unique users, 49% of which are seniors. With these funds, Westchester County will replace 20 vehicles in our fleet, ensuring we can continue to serve these residents well and in comfort.
