Recently, at the Westchester County Board of Legislators, Legislators David Tubiolo (R-Mount Vernon & Yonkers) and Lyndon Williams (D-Mount Vernon) secured funding for the Summer Basketball Program for the City of Mount Vernon. The grant was for $20,600.

(WHITE PLAINS, NY) As the frustrations of the recent Presidential election continue to boil over in many parts of the Country, Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino has again fallen short of fulfilling another commitment; this time to stand up against bigotry and hate crimes despite a recent pledge to do so.  In the previous year Rob Astorino has failed to properly staff the public safety department and now reneged on a pledge to take action against inflammatory and discriminatory public behaviors.

On Friday, November 4 at the Westchester County Board of Legislators (BOL), Legislator David Tubiolo (R-Mount Vernon & Yonkers) hosted a Mock Legislature for the 5th grade class of St. John the Baptist Elementary School.  The students were chaperoned by their 5th grade teacher Mrs. Maria Muoio, and parents.

On Thursday, The Westchester County Board of Legislators (BOL) received County Executive Rob Astorino’s proposed 2017 Operating Budget.  The $1.8 Billion budget does not raise taxes or cut jobs but it comes with a $15 million hole that the County Executive wants the BOL to fill by passing a 40 year lease with a private equity firm to take over operations at the Westchester County Airport.  The County Executive announced the surprise lease proposal late last week and said if the lease deal does not pass the BOL, he would not resubmit a balanced budget and would leave it to Legislators to make $15 million in service cuts to balance the budget.

(WHITE PLAINS, NY) Earlier today, Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino released his 2017 budget proposal amid legislative review of his newly-proposed 40-year lease agreement for the county airport and another year that the County fell short of projected sales tax and other revenue goals.  The County Executive’s 2017 budget relies heavily on a front-loaded one-time payment of $15 million dollars from the Westchester County airport management proposal. The legislature received the proposed lease at close of business on Friday after the County Exec announced the deal in the press and legislative review has begun.
