The Westchester County Board of Legislators is hosting a series of “Public Input Sessions” across the County to give residents an opportunity to voice concerns about Con Edison's proposed rate hikes, which would increase average residential electricity bills by 11.4% and gas bills by 13.3% by 2026.

The Westchester County Board of Legislators condemned Con Edison's proposed double-digit increases for gas and delivery rates during a charged bipartisan “Committee of the Whole” meeting this afternoon. Despite being formally invited, Con Edison declined to send even a single representative to hear legislators voicing the concerns of distressed constituents. An empty chair sat symbolically in the room, underscoring the utility company's absence.

The Westchester County Board of Legislators celebrated AAPI Heritage Month on Monday night with a ceremony honoring two outstanding community leaders: Dr. Bhagwati J. Mistry, a pioneering pediatric dentist, holistic wellness advocate, and community leader dedicated to healthcare equity and cultural preservation in Westchester for over four decades, and Jaclyn Liu, former President of OCA-Westchester & Hudson Valley Chapter and co-founder of the Chinese Academy of Greater New York, who has dedicated over a decade to strengthening AAPI communities through cultural programming, youth development initiatives, and community advocacy.

A cooperative effort between the Westchester County Board of Legislators, Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins, and New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli helped Westchester residents recover nearly $5 million in unclaimed funds between August and December 2024.
