(WHITE PLAINS, NY) Again and again, County taxpayer funds have been wasted by the County Executive’s fight with the federal government over fair and affordable housing in Westchester. Now, members of the Democratic Caucus are calling for an open “Committee of the Whole” meeting with the new Housing Monitor to discuss what the Board can do to move forward with complying with the consent decree to end any further fiscal obligations of the County.

(WHITE PLAINS, NY) At last night’s meeting of the Board of Legislators, Democrats launched an effort aimed to raise the age of tobacco purchases in Westchester County to 21.

(WHITE PLAINS, NY) Westchester County Board of Legislators Democrats moved to squash the County Executive’s plans for a lawsuit against the State over the closing of Indian Point; Plans that needed the approval of the Board of Legislators to move forward.

Good Evening; I’m Legislator Catherine Borgia, the Democratic Majority Leader of the Westchester County Board of Legislators.

(WHITE PLAINS, NY) “This lawsuit from the County Executive is another foolish waste of Westchester taxpayer money; Now is the time that we should be figuring out how to mitigate the economic, social, and environmental impacts of Indian Point closing. Entergy has said publicly that the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant was operating at a loss and therefore made the business decision to pull out of operations that are not guaranteed utilities. As a member of Governor Cuomo’s Indian Point Closure Task Force, I will continue to advocate for State resources to mitigate economic, job, school district losses and environmental concerns surrounding spent fuel rods,” said Majority Leader Catherine Borgia (D-Ossining, Croton-on-Hudson, Cortlandt Manor, Briarcliff Manor, Peekskill).
