The Westchester County Board of Legislators celebrated AAPI Heritage Month on Monday night with a ceremony honoring two outstanding community leaders: Dr. Bhagwati J. Mistry, a pioneering pediatric dentist, holistic wellness advocate, and community leader dedicated to healthcare equity and cultural preservation in Westchester for over four decades, and Jaclyn Liu, former President of OCA-Westchester & Hudson Valley Chapter and co-founder of the Chinese Academy of Greater New York, who has dedicated over a decade to strengthening AAPI communities through cultural programming, youth development initiatives, and community advocacy.

A cooperative effort between the Westchester County Board of Legislators, Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins, and New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli helped Westchester residents recover nearly $5 million in unclaimed funds between August and December 2024.

Westchester County Legislators tackled urgent public health threats and nonprofit funding challenges last week through targeted committee and task force work. These highlights showcase how Board members are actively protecting residents’ health and supporting critical community services throughout Westchester.

Starting May 7, 2025, all U.S. travelers age 18 and up need a REAL ID-compliant identification to board domestic flights and enter certain federal facilities. This is a federal requirement under the REAL ID Act to enhance security of state-issued IDs.
