(WHITE PLAINS, NY) At last night’s Board of Legislators meeting, the Immigration Protection Act authored by Majority Leader Catherine Borgia (D-Ossining) and introduced by the Democratic Caucus passed its first test on the path to becoming law. Numerous members of the public came to the Board to publicly comment on their support for the Act and expressed hope that Legislators would do the same. The Act was referred to the Committees on Budget & Appropriations, Legislation, and Public Safety & Social Services.

(WHITE PLAINS, NY) Today, members of the Westchester County Board of Legislators Democratic Caucus introduced an Act aimed to alleviate many of the concerns surrounding inhumane treatment of their immigrant brothers and sisters and the fear working with local law enforcement often instills in them.

(WHITE PLAINS, NY) Members of the Westchester County Board of Legislators Democratic Caucus attended various events throughout the County this weekend in solidarity with many of their neighbors. Hundreds of Westchester Residents came out in cold temperatures to show the peace and tolerance they believe are the true values of Westchester County.

(WHITE PLAINS, NY) “Today, Congress took a major step toward making it easier to access guns. The House of Representatives voted to overturn a rule which barred gun ownership by some who were deemed ‘mentally impaired’ by the Social Security Administration. Congress’s action only further serves to exacerbate the issues we are facing here in Westchester County and is a further reason for the Board of Legislators to override County Executive Astorino’s veto of the prohibition of gun shows on County park land and facilities.
