He has once again made known his intent to use taxpayer funded resources – without Board of Legislators Approval – for a frivolous lawsuit he knows we can’t win. Any unilateral attempt to use outside counsel on behalf of the taxpayers is in violation of our County’s charter. The surrounding communities are better served by bringing all sides together to work on real economic and environmental mitigation solutions; and that is what Democrats are focused on.”

(WHITE PLAINS, NY) During yesterday’s committee meeting with Standard Amusements, the County’s partner in the refurbishment of Playland, Democratic legislators were surprised to hear of Standard Amusement’s trepidations when it came to the iconic Playland pool.

On Monday evening the Westchester County Board of Legislators passed a Local Law banning the sale and possession of synthetic drugs. The Law which was originally sponsored by Legislator David Tubiolo (R) Yonkers, Mount Vernon, and Legislator John Testa (R) Cortlandt, Peekskill, Yorktown. It passed by a unanimous 17-0 vote.

(WHITE PLAINS, NY) Again and again, County taxpayer funds have been wasted by the County Executive’s fight with the federal government over fair and affordable housing in Westchester. Now, members of the Democratic Caucus are calling for an open “Committee of the Whole” meeting with the new Housing Monitor to discuss what the Board can do to move forward with complying with the consent decree to end any further fiscal obligations of the County.
