Borgia & Local Leaders Demand Action on Indian Point Job Protection Resolution

(BUCHANAN, NY) Outside of Indian Point Energy Center’s main entrance, Westchester County Board of Legislators Majority Leader Catherine Borgia (D-Ossining) stood with local leaders in support of her bi-partisan Indian Job Protection Resolution. The resolution is expected to come to a vote of the full Board of Legislators on Monday night, October 30th after being introduced on May 8th and referred to the committees on Energy & Regional Efficiencies, Labor, Parks, Planning & Housing, and Budget & Appropriations.

Westchester Legislators Fight Wage Discrimination

(WHITE PLAINS, NY) Yesterday, seven members of the Democratic Caucus introduced the Wage History Anti-Discrimination bill. This will prohibit employers from asking prospective employees about their previous salary history. Employers often ask prospective employees to provide prior salary histories in order to set salary pay rates. This practice perpetuates discrimination against women and people of color who historically earn lower salaries throughout their careers.
