Board Protects Affordable Housing and Strengthens Safety for Local Communities, Law Enforcement Officers 

The Westchester County Board of Legislators strengthened housing protections and public safety for residents at its meeting on Monday, August 4, 2025.  In three significant votes, the Board secured long-term affordability for more than 160 apartments in Sleepy Hollow, authorized $6.6 million in critical security upgrades at the Westchester County Department of Correction, and enhanced mutual aid agreements to support 29 local police departments during critical emergencies.

Board Approves Investments in Trail Reconstruction and Waterfront Revitalization

The Westchester County Board of Legislators approved $2.8 million in investments to improve recreational facilities and economic development at its meeting on August 4, 2025. The Board allocated funds to repair the flood-damaged Briarcliff-Peekskill Trailway and voted to fund a partnership with the Village of Port Chester to revitalize its downtown waterfront area. These projects will enhance recreational access and support economic growth while creating public amenities for all County residents.
