Legislator Erika L. Pierce Presents $20,000 to The Mount Kisco Interfaith Food Pantry

Westchester County Legislator Erika L. Pierce (D- Bedford, Lewisboro, Mount Kisco, North Salem, Pound Ridge, Somers) presented $20,000 in funding to The Mount Kisco Interfaith Food Pantry to aid in the fight against local food insecurity. Pierce delivered a “big check” earlier this month on behalf of the Board of Legislators, which remains committed to fighting food insufficiency throughout the County.

The Mount Kisco Interfaith Food Pantry has served Northern Westchester for 34 years, working to eradicate food insecurity as the region's only weekly choice food pantry. The pantry serves 21 communities, including all six in Legislative District 2. In 2024, the organization fed over 118,282 people—nearly a third children and more than 10 percent seniors—with an average of 714 households visiting weekly. The pantry is located at the United Methodist Church of Mount Kisco at 300 East Main Street.

For 2025, The Mount Kisco Interfaith Food Pantry received $20,000 in Community Based Organization (CBO) funding through Legislator Pierce's advocacy. Through this partnership with The Mount Kisco Interfaith Food Pantry, Legislator Pierce and the Board of Legislators are supporting community members who are struggling to put food on their tables.

“As food costs have continued to rise and public support for both food pantries and those facing food insecurity is being reduced, our pantries are facing increasingly empty shelves while our families are increasingly facing empty stomachs,” said Legislator Erika Pierce. “Supporting our pantries, including The Mount Kisco Interfaith Food Pantry, as they lift up our families by alleviating food insecurity, could not be more important.”

Executive Director Trina Ward Fontaine said, “We are very grateful to our County Legislator, Erika Pierce, who not only volunteers at the pantry but also advocates for those experiencing food insecurity on a county level. Her ability to obtain this funding means that we can continue to distribute high-quality, nutritious food including fresh produce on a weekly basis, despite paying higher food costs due to federal cuts in funding to our local food bank. We are lucky to have such strong partners in our county government.”
