Westchester County Legislator Erika L. Pierce (D–Bedford, Lewisboro, Mount Kisco, North Salem, Pound Ridge, Somers) presented $20,000 in County funding to New Dawn Family Resource Center to support its work aiding victims of domestic violence. Pierce delivered the ceremonial check last month on behalf of the Board of Legislators, which remains committed to making the County a safer place for all residents.
The Westchester County Board of Legislators welcomed two newly elected members at its annual Organizational Meeting on Monday, January 5, the start of the 2026 legislative term. Westchester County Clerk, Hon. Thomas M. Roach, administered the Oath of Office to Legislators Jenn Puja and Anant Nambiar, along with 15 returning legislators. Nambiar’s election follows recent diversity milestones for the Board. In 2023, Legislator David Imamura became the first Asian American member and Chairman Vedat Gashi became the first Albanian American and Muslim to serve.
The Westchester County Board of Legislators began the 2026 term on Monday night, re-electing Board Chairman Vedat Gashi (D–New Castle, Ossining, Somers, Yorktown) and electing Legislator Terry Clements (D–New Rochelle, Pelham, Pelham Manor) as Vice Chair. Sunday Vanderberg was elected to her fifth term as the Board’s Clerk and Chief Administrative Officer.
The Westchester County Board of Legislators voted by overwhelming majority to pass the 2026 Westchester County Budget. The approved budget reduced the County Executive’s proposed property tax increase from 5.27% to 3.7%. For the average homeowner, this equates to roughly $3 more a month while remaining tax cap compliant.
