White Plains, NY — In proclaiming March as Irish History Month in Westchester County, the Board of Legislators will celebrate the outstanding achievements and contributions of three Irish-American individuals in Westchester County.

The celebration will take place before the Board’s regular meeting on Monday, March 9, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Board Chamber, 148 Martine Avenue, White Plains.

The Board is proud to recognize these three exemplary honorees:

  • Claire O’Gara Grimes – Former owner and publisher of the Irish Echo
  • William J. Powers – Media personality and the voice and face of the Peekskill St. Patrick’s Day Parade
  • Thomas G. Tuffy – Trustee of the County Sligo Social & Benevolent Association, and owner of TG Tuffy Interiors, Inc. in Yonkers

We invite you to celebrate their outstanding contributions before our March 9 meeting, when the Board will present proclamations in their honor, and to hear them address the Board and guests.
