Minority Leader George Oros (R-C/Cortlandt) was proud to honor Coach Steve Fallo and the Lakeland High School girls basketball team for their recent state championship at the Board of Legislators’ April 9 meeting.

The Lakeland team won an amazing 27 consecutive games this season in capturing the New York State Class A title before losing a hard fought contest in the New York State Federation Tournament of Champions.

In recognition of their extraordinary accomplishments, April 9 was declared Lakeland High School Hornets Girls Basketball Team Day in Westchester County.

“I am so fortunate to have such talented, young athletes in my district,” said Oros, who was joined by Legislator Michael Kaplowitz (D/Somers) and board Chairman William Ryan (D/White Plains) in presenting each member of the team with a special proclamation. “What the Lakeland team accomplished this season was truly remarkable.”

Fallo thanked Oros and the Board of Legislators for the recognition.

“It’s been a great season,” Fallo said. “To win the Class A state championship is a dream come true for all of us and something we’ll remember forever.”
