The Westchester County Board of Legislators is hosting Public Input Sessions in Northern Westchester to hear residents’ concerns about the exorbitant rate hikes proposed by New York State Electric and Gas (NYSEG).
What’s Happening: NYSEG has proposed alarming rate increases that would impact local families and businesses:
- Electricity: Average residential bills would increase by 23.7% in 2026
- Gas: Average residential bills would increase by 33.5% in 2026
These excessive hikes would follow six years of rate increases, placing additional financial burden on residents already struggling with rising costs.
What the Board Is Doing to Help Ratepayers: The Board of Legislators has taken action on your behalf:
- In August, the Board authorized the County to join NYSEG’s rate proceedings before the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC). The County is also challenging Con Edison’s proposed delivery rate hikes. Read about the Board’s efforts to resist Con Ed’s rate hikes here.
