(Port Chester, NY) ~ Westchester County Legislator Martin Rogowsky (D, WP-Harrison) is pleased to announce that the Village of Port Chester has received a $205,000 community development block grant (CDBG) from the federal government for the Edgewood Park Improvement Project.  The grant, administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, is a flexible program that provides communities with resources to address a wide range of unique community development needs.  The grant will be used for make much-needed renovations at Edgewood Park.

The Village of Port Chester plans to create two youth soccer fields and other additions to Edgewood Park.  The project will include, but is not limited to, the creation of the youth soccer fields including a retaining wall, seating and paths at Edgewood Park.

“I’m glad that I was able to assist in obtaining this grant,” said Rogowsky.  “In securing this grant from non-County sources, this project exhibits fiscal responsibility by not relying on property tax dollars.”  The annual CDBG funding plan is now in its thirty-fourth year and is a joint partnership involving the federal government, the County and the local villages, towns and city governments.
