With quorum present, the Committee on Public Works, Transportation, Labor & Parks and the Committee on Public Safety & Security was called to order at 3:40 p.m.

ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION:

Commissioner of Parks, Recreation, & Conservation, Joseph Stout, and David De Lucia appeared before the committee to discuss the master plan for the county’s Tibbett’s Brook Park. The presentation given outlined the vast improvements set to take place at the park including the new Gaelic football field (as well as other athletic fields), restoration of the gazebo, rehabilitation of the Tibbetts Bathhouse (both interior and exterior), and the reconfiguration of the pool and associated facilities. Both Commissioner Stout and Mr. De Lucia stated that work is already underway on projects that have been approved by the County Board and that the entire plan will take up until 2011 to fully implement.

There was then a brief discussion amongst the member with reference to the sewer main break in North Yonkers. Chair Jenkins mentioned that he and Legislator Pinto recently visited the site in order to see the extent of the damage and to monitor the progress of the remediation work being conducted.

On a motion by Legislator Pinto, seconded by Legislator Myers, the Committee on Public Works, Transportation, Labor, & Parks adjourned at 4:13 p.m.
