What: An analysis and discussion of the proposed Westchester calorie labeling law requested by the Committee Chairs of the County Law Department.

Why:

Due to the obesity epidemic that our country is facing, several states, cities, and counties are considering various calorie labeling laws for restaurants with multiple locations and standard portion-sized menus. The discussion will focus on the pros and cons of requiring these restaurants to post the calorie content on their menus or menu boards.

Since the legislators' first discussion of the law last month New York City has reintroduced calorie label legislation after the first law was struck down by a federal judge.
