Amendment to County Contractor Licensing Law - Monday, October 22, 7:30 pm

The County Board of Legislators will hold a public hearing on Monday October 22, 2007 at 7:30 P.M. in the Board Chamber located on the 8th Floor of the County Office Building at 148 Martine Avenue, White Plains, New York 10601.
The purpose of the Public Hearing is to seek input regarding a proposal to amend the laws of Westchester County to authorize the seizure of vehicles and tools used in connection with the unlicensed operation of a home improvement business.
The county's Consumer Protection Department indicates that many of the most serious consumer complaints involving shoddy, substandard work or failure to perform any work at all involve unlicensed home improvement contractors. Home improvement contractors who operate without licenses leave homeowners without the protections afforded by the county’s licensing requirements.
The proposed Local Law would strengthen the enforcement effort against unlicensed home improvement contractors by providing meaningful deterrence.
Anybody unable to attend in person may submit written comments to Legislation Chairman Vito Pinto at the above address or by email at Pinto@westchesterlegislators.com.
