With a quorum present, the Committee on Legislation was called to order at 1:10 p.m.
NYS HOME RULE RESOLUTION COMMUNITY PRESERVATION FUND
(Abinanti, Rogowsky) motion to approve a Home Rule Resolution to enact A7849-B/S6271 to establish the Hudson Valley community preservation act of 2007.
The home rule message was only required by the State Senate not the Assembly. Rockland County was recently removed from the bill because they were not prepared to take a vote.
Motion approved 8-0 (Oros, Burrows, Jenkins, Myers-Without Prejudice)
LOCAL LAW BANNING PEDOPHILES AND SEX OFFENDERS FROM LIVING NEAR COUNTY FACILITIES
The Committee asked that the County Attorney draft legislation using the Putnam County law as a template
Comments about specific provisions were discussed as well as some questions about enforcement.
Abinanti stated for the record that he does not support having the legislation drafted and can not support anything like the Putnam County legislation.
LOCAL LAW PORTABLE /INFLATABLE SWIMMING POOL ADVISORY
(Jenkins, Young) move for public hearing only the local law to require retail establishments to post advisory notifications along with the sale of Portable/Inflatable Swimming Pools. Motion Passed 6-0
Leg. Jenkins suggested that the warning also be printed in Spanish.
(Rogowsky, Jenkins) Move to adjourn the Committee on Legislation. Motion passed 6-0
Committee on Legislation adjourned at 2:44 P.M.
