Where: | County Board of Legislators, McPoland Conference Room, The Michaelian County Office Building, 148 Martine Avenue, 8th floor | |
Why: | Despite the clear need, the number of available, county-subsidized child care slots was on the rise. FHHS worked closely with CCCW to identify what was causing the vacancies. As a result, FHHS developed the Westchester County Child Care Scholarship Program and asked CCCW to administer it. The scholarship assists a particular segment of families who are struggling to meet child care costs but who are not eligible for a subsidy because their income is slightly above the income threshold. CCCW will provide FHHS with a status report on the program. In addition, CCCW will discuss initiatives to improve child care in Westchester called for by the Westchester County 2006 Child Care Utilization Study. |
