COMMITTEE ON APPOINTMENTS
MINUTES

WEDNESDAY, MAY 2, 2007, AT 4:00 P.M.

PRESENT: Acting Chair: Oros. Members: Bronz, Jenkins, Pinto. Staff: Vita.

GUESTS: Peter W. McDonald-Fire Advisory Board; Dr. Peter Leibert-Reappointment to the Board of Health; Ben Salanitro-Refuse Disposal District #1. CEO’s Office: William Randolph.

As Acting Chair, Mr. Oros called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m.

APPOINTMENTS

FIRE ADVISORY BOARD:

Peter W. McDonald: A resident of Somers, New York (with a Yorktown mailing address), was appointed by the County Executive as an At-Large Career Chief Member, for a term to expire on December 31, 2009. His career began in 1978 as an EMT, and he worked as a Registered Nurse in the emergency departments in Westchester, Putnam, Bronx, and Harlem. He has been a firefighter since 1984 and has risen up the ladder from Fire Lieutenant, Fire Captain and Deputy Chief with over 25 years of emergency service experience.

On the motion of Legislator Pinto, seconded by Legislator Oros, the appointment is hereby approved by a 4-0 vote.

BOARD OF HEALTH:

Dr. Peter S. Liebert, M.D.: A resident of Harrison, New York, has been recommended for reappointment as a Licensed Physician member by the Commissioner of Health and the County Executive for a six-year term to expire on December 31, 2013. Dr. Liebert has held this seat since 2001, and has been an active and effective member of the Board.

On the motion of Legislator Bronz, seconded by Legislator Pinto, the appointment is hereby approved by a 4-0 vote.

REFUSE DISPOSAL DISTRICT #1:

Benedict A. Salanitro, P.E.: A resident of Mamaroneck, New York and has been appointed as a Town Representative Member for a term to expire on December 31, 2008. He served as the Assistant Village Civil Engineer for the Village of Mamaroneck from 1987 to 1993, Superintendent of Public Works for Tarrytown; and currently he is the Superintendent of Public Works for the Village of Scarsdale.

On the motion of Legislator Pinto, seconded by Legislator Bronz, the appointment is hereby approved by a 4-0 vote.

With no other business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 4:40 p.m.
