COMMITTEE ON APPOINTMENTS
MINUTES

WEDNESDAY, June 14, 2006; 4:00 p.m.

PRESENT: Chair: Swanson. Members: Bronz, Oros, Pinto, Stewart-Cousins, Ryan. Staff: Vita.

GUESTS: Ms. Milagros Lecuona; Appointee-Planning Department.

Mrs. Swanson called the meeting to order at 4:05 p.m.

Legislator Rogowsky, recommended Ms. Blanca Lopez, for a vacant position on the Housing Opportunity Commission, was unable to keep her appointment today, and was rescheduled for Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at 4:15 p.m.

REAPPOINTMENTS

The following were reappointed and approved by a 5-0 vote:

· Dorothy Orr-African American Advisory Board; ASC/LB;

· Karen Cheeks-Lomax - Human Rights Commission; ASC/VJP;

· Wendy Serkin-Human Rights Commission; ASC/LB;

· Carla D. Glassman, Esq.-Women’s Advisory Board; LB/ASC;

· Tibisay Guzman-Community Services Board; ASC/VJP;

· Edward J. Stopplemann-Taxi & Limousine Commission; VJP/LB;

· Kenneth O’Gara-Traffic Safety Board; VJP/SRS.

Legislator Stewart-Cousins asked the Administration to remind the seniors who serve on the Council for Seniors, to be notified well in advance, some have complained to her that they miss meetings because of lack of notification. Mr. Randolph will check into the matter.

Mrs. Bronz reported to the committee that she is having difficulty securing a meeting date with Michael Israel from the Health Care Corporation, to meet jointly with B&A on June 20th at 1:30 p.m. She will keep the committee posted.

The Committee had a brief recess until the next appointment was present.

APPOINTMENTS:

WESTCHESTER COUNTY PLANNING BOARD

Ms. Milagros Lecouna: is a resident of White Plains, New York and has been appointed by the County Executive, as a member, for a term to expire on December 31, 2008. She is an architect with Peter Giolfi Associates and is responsible for master planning, design development and project management at the firm. Since joining the firm in 1999, Ms. Lecuona has been a senior designer and senior project manager for institutional construction projects for several colleges, schools, and other institutes.

Impress with her background, expertise and knowledge, the committee members approved her appointment to the Planning Board by a 5-0 vote. Moved by Legislator Bronz, seconded by Legislator Pinto, all in favor, none opposed, motion carried.

With no other business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 5 p.m.
