COMMITTEE ON APPOINTMENTS

MINUTES: WEDNESDAY, February 8, 2006; 4:00 P.M.

PRESENT: Chair: Swanson. Members: Bronz, Pinto, Stewart-Cousins. Staff: Vita. CEO’s office: Randolph.

GUESTS: Michael Saviola, Appointee to Soil & Water Conservation Board.

Mrs. Swanson called the meeting to order at 4 p.m.

Mrs. Swanson welcomed Michael Saviola, asked if he took the oath of office, and asked if he attended any meetings.

SOIL & WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT’S BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Michael Saviola is a resident of Chappaqua, New York. The County Executive appointed him as a member of this Board for the term January 1, 2006 to December 31, 2008.

Mr. Saviola took the oath of office and attended three meetings. He is employed with the Watershed Agricultural Council of the New York City Watershed, Inc. in Yorktown Heights, as the East of Hudson Program Manager. The Council administers a watershed-wide agricultural and forestry program in New York City’s Croton watershed.

Prior to this, Mr. Saviola was employed by Westchester County Department of Planning as an Environmental Planner, where he initiated and administered Agricultural District as part of a major Agriculture & Farmland Protection initiative of the County. He organized Earth Team volunteer groups to assess streams for watershed planning efforts undertaken in the Long Island Sound watershed communities, and he prepared detailed site plan reviews relate to soil & water resources.

Mr. Saviola brings a professional and experienced background to this Board.

Mrs. Swanson thanked Mr. Saviola for his time and will notify him of his confirmation.

On the motion of Legislator Swanson, seconded by Legislator Bronz, the appointment of Michael Saviola to the Soil & Water Conservation Board is approved. All in favor, none opposed. Motion carried 4-0.

REAPPOINTMENTS:

SOIL & WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT’S BOARD OF DIRECTORS

R. Phyllis Wittner, is a resident of Larchmont, New York, and was reappointed by the County Executive to serve for the term January 1, 2006 to December 31, 2006.

Her attendance record is excellent and she continues to bring a professional and experienced background to this Board.

On the motion of Legislator Pinto, seconded by Legislator Stewart-Cousins, the reappointment is approved.

TRAFFIC SAFETY BOARD

Eli Schonberger, is a resident of White Plains, New York, and was reappointed by the County Executive as a City member of the Traffic Safety Board, for the term January 1, 2006 to December 31, 2008.

He has an excellent attendance record and he continues to bring a professional and experienced background to this Board.

On the motion of Legislator Pinto, seconded by Legislator Bronz, the reappointment is approved.

MINUTES

The minutes of January 23, 2006 were approved and moved, on the motion of Legislator Pinto, seconded by Legislator Stewart-Cousins. All in favor, none opposed, motion carried 4-0.

The next scheduled meeting is Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 4 p.m.

With no other business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 4:35 p.m.
