TOPIC: NY LCV Environmental Priorities
DISCUSSION:
Chair Abinanti called the meeting to order at 3:25pm.
At Chair Abinanti introduced Katharine McLoughlin of the NY League of Conservation Voters (LCV). Ms. McLoughlin went over the League’s priorities with the committee. Of particular interest to the LCV were Brownfield’s, drinking water, the purchase of David’s Island for use as a County park and creating a consolidated county sewer system.
In addition, Ms. McLoughlin handed out a complete 2004 Westchester County Policy Agenda that the League put together (on file).
Chair Abinanti made particular note that Legislator Maisano was very familiar with David’s Island and Legislator Rogowsky was very interested in creating a consolidated county sewer system.
The members all thanked Ms. McLoughlin for coming in.
A motion was made by Chair Abinanti to send a memo to Chairman Ryan to evaluate the County Sewer Authority. Seconded by Legislator Rogowsky, all in favor – aye (approved 6-0).
A motion was made by Legislator Kaplowitz to approve the April 19th minutes. Seconded by Legislator Latimer, all in favor – aye (approved 6-0).
At 4:05pm, a motion to adjourn was made by Legislator Rogowsky. Seconded by Legislator LaMotte, all in favor – aye.
