MINUTES: May 24, 2005

Meeting called to order at 9:35 am.

On the motion of Legislator Pinto, seconded by Legislator Alvarado the minutes for February 14, 2005 and May 23, 2005 were approved (4-0).

Jeff Williams, Dept. of Planning, made a brief presentation on the Dr. Martin Luther King Monument to be erected on the courthouse. He stated that the goal is to have the monument ready for the 20th anniversary of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday in 2006.

Legislator Young stated that the Planning Committee endorsed the monument.

Legislator Pinto asked about the $100,000 from the County on this year’s budget. The bond needs to be prepared and then it will be presented to the various committees.

Mr. Williams reported that the SEQRA report was just finished. Planning is waiting to finalize the details of the lease with the courthouse. He added that access to the monument needs to be addressed since its location would be somewhat difficult for the public to access.

Legislator Young explained that the casting is in bronze and he has a sample model in his office.

Legislator Alvarado left the meeting at 10:00am.

Subfolder Sewage Diversion – Items 1a, 1b, 4, 5, 9, 17, 19, and 20

On the motion of Legislator Pinto, seconded by Legislator Bronz items 1a, 1b, 4, 5, 9, 17, 19, and 20 are to be moved to the subfolder on sewage diversion. The vote was 3-0.

6. HON. MICHAEL KAPLOWITZ: Sewer District Modification: Resolution from the Town of Yorktown requesting the addition of sixteen parcels into the Peekskill Sanitary Sewer District.

Item was discussed for the purpose to start the process of sending a letter to the County Executive’s Office.

On the motion of Legislator Pinto, seconded by Legislator Bronz the item was carried (3-0).

10. HON. MICHAEL KAPLOWITZ: Peekskill Sanitary Sewer District: Correspondence from the Town of Yorktown requesting modifications for thirty-six (36) parcels to the Peekskill Sanitary Sewer District. (01/04/05)

Item is already been reviewed by Department of Environmental Facilities.

13. CLERK OF THE BOARD: Sewer District Modification: Resolution requesting that the County incorporate ten parcels of land into the Peekskill Sanitary Sewer District. (03/01/05)

Item was discussed for the purpose to start the process of sending a letter to the County Executive’s Office.

On the motion of Legislator Pinto, seconded by Legislator Bronz the item was carried (3-0).

15. CLERK OF THE BOARD: Sewer District Modification: Request from the Town of Cortlandt for the inclusion into the Peekskill Sanitary Sewer District of a parcel located in the Town of Cortlandt. (33 Hill & Dale Road) (03/01/05)

Item was discussed for the purpose to start the process of sending a letter to the County Executive’s Office.

On the motion of Legislator Pinto, seconded by Legislator Bronz the item was carried (3-0).

16. HON. GEORGE OROS: Sewer District Modification: Correspondence regarding inclusion of a parcel in the Town of Cortlandt Manor into the Peekskill Sanitary Sewer District (Pierce Street, Cortlandt Manor). (03/21/05)

Item was discussed for the purpose to start the process of sending a letter to the County Executive’s Office.

On the motion of Legislator Pinto, seconded by Legislator Bronz the item was carried (3-0).

On the motion of Legislator Bronz, seconded by Legislator Pinto the meeting adjourned at 10:10 a.m.
