White Plains, NY — On Monday, the Westchester County Board of Legislators proudly celebrated the County's high school scholars and finalists in the 2018 Regeneron Science Talent Search (STS).

This year, 23 of the County's best and brightest students, representing 12 local high schools, were among the Regeneron STS scholars. This group of young scholars, including a Regeneron STS finalist, joined program alumni who include 13 Nobel Prize winners, 18 MacArthur Foundation Fellowship recipients and 11 National Medals of Science winners.

Each STS scholar was recognized for his or her achievement in a certificate from the Board during a ceremony in the Board's Legislative Chambers ahead of the Board's regularly scheduled meeting on the 8th Floor of the Michaelian Office Building, 148 Martine Avenue, White Plains 10601.

About the Regeneron Science Talent Search

The Regeneron Science Talent Search, a program of Society for Science & the Public, is the nation’s most prestigious pre-college science and mathematics competition. It recognizes the best and brightest young scientists for demonstrating exceptional scientific leadership potential.

Each year, approximately 1,800 high school seniors enter the Regeneron STS. In early January, 300 Regeneron STS scholars are selected and they and their schools are awarded $2,000 each, totaling approximately $1.2 million in awards. From that pool of scholars, forty finalists are announced in late January. They receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., where they compete in a rigorous judging process for an additional $1.8 million in awards, with a top prize of $250,000.
