Nancy Barr was sworn in as a Westchester County Legislator in January of 2018. She represents District 6, which is comprised of Port Chester, Rye Brook and Harrison.


Nancy chairs the Committee for Environment, Health & Energy and serves on the following committees: Budget and Appropriations, Law and Major Contracts, Appointments, Social Services, Public Safety and Public Works. She is also a member of the Family Task Force and was appointed to the Airport Advisory Board by County Executive George Latimer.


Nancy has followed through on her commitment to helping Westchester families by voting for legislation designed to protect the health, environment and economic well-being of the county and its residents. These laws include banning gun shows on county property, the Immigration Protection Act, Wage History Discrimination Act, a law to spur hiring of service-disabled veteran-owned businesses in county contracts and raising the age for sales of tobacco and vaping products from 18 to 21.


As the current Vice President of the Council of Community Services of Rye Town, Port Chester and Rye Brook, a non-profit organization whose mission is to bring together local leaders and stakeholders to assess and meet the needs of the community, Nancy has been instrumental in finding solutions to community challenges via advocacy and mobilization.


Nancy also serves on the Facilities Committee for the Blind Brook School District. She is a member of the Rye Brook Airport Advisory Committee. From 2009-2015, Nancy was a member of the Blind Brook Board of Education, including terms as Vice President and President. And for over a decade, Nancy has been coordinating meals for the St. Peter’s Church Soup Kitchen in Port Chester.


After earning her Bachelor of Arts from Colgate University, Nancy worked for the American Kennel Club in their Education and Public Affairs department. She later graduated from Yale Law School where she volunteered in the Yale Law Immigration Clinic. She spent a summer at the New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU) Children’s Rights Project. Before moving to Westchester, Nancy was a Trusts and Estates attorney at the Manhattan law firm Milbank Tweed Hadley and McCloy.


Nancy was born in Queens and grew up in Stony Brook, Long Island. She and her husband Tom Kratochvil live in Rye Brook and have two children.
